As someone who used to carry around a heavy Canon EOS 70D DSLR for my photography hobby, I have very high standards for what constitutes a “good” camera. But I also run a digital marketing business, which means I need a device that is practical to carry every single day.
Here are my unedited, day-one first impressions of the vivo X300 Pro.
In-Hand Feel and Weight Balance
The moment I took the phone out of the box, I was struck by the build quality. Despite packing a massive 6510 mAh battery, the phone feels incredibly sleek.
The weight balance is excellent. The large circular camera module on the back definitely gives the phone a top-heavy visual appearance, but vivo has managed to distribute the internal weight perfectly. It doesn’t feel like it wants to tip out of your hand when you are typing or scrolling one-handed. Compared to the massive hassle of lugging my Canon DSLR in a dedicated bag, sliding this powerhouse into my pocket feels like a revelation.
OriginOS 6 Smoothness
Setting up a new phone can be a tedious chore, but the process here was remarkably swift. (If you want to know exactly how I migrated my data and fixed the initial notification quirks, read my complete Setup Guide).
Once I was on the home screen, the fluidity of OriginOS 6 immediately stood out. The animations are buttery smooth, and the 120Hz LTPO display makes navigating the UI feel instantaneous. Coming from other Android skins, OriginOS takes a day or two to get used to, but it is highly customizable. (Read more in my Software Review).
Day One Battery Confidence
It is hard to adequately test battery life on day one because the phone is constantly downloading apps, indexing files, and syncing accounts in the background. However, despite this heavy initial load, the phone didn’t even break a sweat. I unplugged it at 100% in the morning, spent hours setting it up and taking test photos, and still went to bed with over 40% remaining.
That immediate battery confidence is exactly what I was hoping for. For my long-term battery logs, check out my Battery Test Results.
Verdict: The first 24 hours have been incredibly promising. The camera is stunning, the battery seems impossible, and the software is fluid. For my final, long-term thoughts on the device, read my full vivo X300 Pro Review.
