As an avid contributor to public photography directories (you can check out my Pexels profile), I am constantly testing what this phone can do. The vivo X300 Pro is, without a doubt, one of the most capable camera phones I’ve ever carried.
Here are a few recent shots demonstrating its versatility in the field.

The 85mm Portrait (3.7x Optical)
The 85mm equivalent focal length on the 200MP APO telephoto lens is simply magical for street portraits and isolating subjects.
- Scene: A candid street portrait taken in the late afternoon.
- Lighting: Harsh, directional sunlight coming from the subject’s left.
- Focal Length: 85mm (3.7x optical zoom).
- Notes: The phone handled the dynamic range beautifully. Instead of blowing out the sunlit side of the face, it retained the skin texture and provided a natural, optical roll-off into the background blur. I didn’t even need to use the dedicated Portrait Mode to get this subject separation.
- Editing: Processed in Lightroom Mobile using the ZEISS Natural color profile as a base. (See my Photography Workflow for more details on my editing process).
Pushing the Limits: 10x Hybrid Zoom
Sometimes you just can’t get physically closer to your subject. This is where the massive 200MP sensor flexes its muscles with in-sensor cropping.
- Scene: Architectural details on a distant historical building.
- Lighting: Overcast, flat light.
- Focal Length: 230mm equivalent (10x hybrid zoom).
- Notes: Even on a cloudy day, the detail retained at 10x is staggering. The AI processing steps in to sharpen the image, but it manages to avoid the “watercolor” or oil-painting effect that plagues many other digital zooms.
- Editing: Minimal edits. I slightly boosted the contrast to cut through the flat lighting.
