Outdoor Visibility & Brightness
I live in a sunny climate, and I frequently shoot outdoors at midday. Historically, many phones claim high peak brightness but aggressively dim the screen after five minutes of camera use due to heat.
The vivo X300 Pro handles this remarkably well. The global peak brightness is intense enough that I never have to squint to frame a shot, even under direct overhead sunlight. More importantly, it sustains this brightness for much longer than previous generations before thermal throttling kicks in. Combined with the well-balanced vivo X300 Pro weight, holding the phone one-handed outdoors to use the 200MP camera is an absolute joy.
Color Accuracy & Viewing Angles
If you edit photos on your phone, color accuracy is non-negotiable. Out of the box, the display defaults to a standard, slightly vibrant profile.
- My Setup: I immediately switch the screen color mode to “Professional”. This targets the sRGB/DCI-P3 color space much more accurately and matches the ZEISS Natural color profile of the camera perfectly. When I edit in Lightroom Mobile on this phone and then view the images on my calibrated desktop monitor, the colors are nearly identical.
- Curved Edges: The phone has curved screen edges. While they look premium and make back-swipe gestures feel incredibly smooth, they do introduce a slight color shift (a faint greenish/gray tint) at extreme viewing angles on the very edge of the glass. However, it does not interfere with my photo editing.
Refresh Rate & LTPO Behavior
The 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling through Twitter, LinkedIn, and heavy websites feel buttery smooth. Because it is an LTPO panel, it dynamically scales the refresh rate down to 1Hz when viewing static content (like reading an article or looking at a photo).
This scaling is imperceptible to the eye—I never catch it stuttering when I suddenly start scrolling again. This efficiency is a massive reason why the phone achieves such incredible Battery Life.
Eye Comfort & PWM Dimming
I am sensitive to screen flicker at low brightness levels. The vivo X300 Pro utilizes high-frequency PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) dimming.
- Night Reading: When reading in bed with the brightness turned all the way down, the screen remains stable. I have experienced absolutely zero eye strain or headaches, which was a major issue for me on older OLED panels.
