Because I am often out in the field shooting photos, I need a phone that won’t die on me halfway through the afternoon. Synthetic benchmarks tell one story, but real-world use tells another. Here is a raw log of a heavy usage day with the vivo X300 Pro.
The Setup
Before leaving the house, I made sure the phone was fully charged and all my essential apps were running.
- Starting Charge: 100% at 6:30 AM
- Brightness: Set to Auto (frequently spiking to maximum outdoors)
- Network: 5G enabled for the entire day
- Location: High-accuracy GPS enabled
The Drain Log
My day was split between running my business and taking photos.
- 06:30 AM to 09:00 AM (100% to 88%): Heavy email triage, checking analytics, and scrolling through X and LinkedIn while commuting.
- 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM (88% to 65%): Screen mostly off, but connected to Bluetooth earbuds for podcasts. A few quick phone calls.
- 01:00 PM to 04:30 PM (65% to 35%): This was the heavy lift. I spent over three hours outdoors taking photos with the display pushed to max brightness. I was constantly switching between the camera app and Lightroom Mobile, shooting dozens of RAW files.
- 04:30 PM to 06:00 PM (35% to 28%): GPS navigation in the car using Google Maps while streaming Spotify over 5G.
- 06:00 PM to 11:00 PM (28% to 18%): Relaxing at home on Wi-Fi. Light web browsing, a few YouTube videos, and answering final emails.
The Verdict
Ending a day this heavy with 18% battery remaining is phenomenal. The 6510 mAh silicon-carbon battery is no joke. Even during the intensive afternoon photo session, the phone barely got warm (you can read more about how the Dimensity 9500 handles heat in my Performance Notes).
When it was finally time to charge, the included 90W FlashCharge brick brought it back up to 50% in under 20 minutes. If you want to see my aggregated battery data over a longer period, check out my comprehensive Battery Review.
