Common vivo X300 Pro Problems & How to Fix Them

A complete troubleshooting guide for the vivo X300 Pro running OriginOS 6. Step-by-step fixes for delayed notifications, Google Play syncing, Android Auto alternatives, and banking biometrics.

Importing a Chinese-edition flagship like the vivo X300 Pro gets you world-class optical hardware and massive battery life at a price far lower than Western retail alternatives. However, running a Chinese ROM (OriginOS 6) outside of China comes with a few known software friction points.

If you are experiencing delayed push notifications, Google Play Store sync hiccups, or banking app permission errors, don’t worry. None of these are hardware defects, and all of them can be resolved in a few minutes.

Here is the definitive troubleshooting guide with tested solutions for the most common vivo X300 Pro issues.

1. How to Fix Delayed Push Notifications (WhatsApp, Slack, Gmail)

The Problem:

You receive notifications only after opening the messaging app or unlocking your device.

The Fix (Apply all 3 steps):

  1. Enable Auto-Start: Go to Settings > Apps > Special app access > Auto-start. Find your messaging apps (WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Gmail, Outlook) and toggle them ON.
  2. Allow High Background Power: Go to Settings > Battery > Background power consumption management. Locate the app and switch it from Smart Control to Allow high background power usage.
  3. Lock App in Recent Tasks: Swipe up and hold to open the recent tasks screen. Find the app card, tap the three dots or lock icon at the top, and lock it into memory.

2. Installing Google Services & Google Play Store

The Problem:

The phone arrives without Google Play Store pre-installed.

The Fix:

  1. Open the native Settings app and navigate to Accounts & Sync > Google Services.
  2. Toggle the switch to ON. This enables the native Google GMS framework.
  3. Open the native V-Appstore or the built-in browser, search for Google Play Store, and download the official APK.
  4. Open the Play Store, sign in with your Google account, and download Chrome, Gmail, Google Photos, and Maps. All Google services will now function natively.

3. Working Around the Android Auto Limitation

The Problem:

OriginOS 6 uses vivo’s proprietary Jovi InCar (Carlink protocol) rather than native Google Android Auto.

The Solutions:

  • Solution A (Vehicles with Carlink / Baidu CarLife): Plug your phone in directly. Jovi InCar will project phone navigation and media seamlessly.
  • Solution B (Standard Western Vehicles): Use an inexpensive wireless bridge adapter (such as a Carlinkit or AutoKit adapter) that converts Carlink signals into native CarPlay/Android Auto protocols.
  • Solution C (Bluetooth Audio + Phone Mount): Mount the X300 Pro on a dashboard magnetic wireless charger and use Bluetooth audio. Google Maps running directly on the phone’s 4,500-nit LTPO display is brighter and smoother than most car screens.

4. Persisting Third-Party Launchers (Nova, Niagara, Smart Launcher)

The Problem:

Setting Nova Launcher or Niagara Launcher as default causes the OS to occasionally revert to the OriginOS desktop.

The Fix:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps > Home app and select your third-party launcher.
  2. Go to Settings > Apps > Special app access > Modify system settings and grant full permission to your launcher.
  3. Lock the launcher in the recent tasks overview so the memory manager never terminates its background process, pairing nicely with other OriginOS 6 shortcuts.

5. Removing Chinese Text and Pre-Installed Bloatware

The Problem:

Pre-installed Chinese services (iMusic, vivo Wallet, Chinese search bars) clutter the interface.

The Fix:

  • Home Screen Feed: Long-press on an empty area of the desktop, tap Desktop Settings, and toggle Jovi Home Screen (Left Screen) to OFF.
  • Uninstalling Apps: Long press on V-Appstore, vivo Wallet, or iReader and tap Uninstall. For non-removable system apps, place them inside an archived folder labeled “System” or hide them in Settings > Security > App Hide.
