# vivo X300 Pro Photography Kit: Worth the Upgrade?

> A detailed review of the official vivo X300 Pro Photography Kit, including the extender lens, camera grip, and shooting experience.

The [vivo X300 Pro](/vivo-x300-pro-review/) already blurs the line between a smartphone and a dedicated camera body. To push that boundary further, vivo and third parties like SmallRig offer specialized **Photography Kits** featuring ergonomic grips, Bluetooth shutters, and optical filter rings.

As someone who transitioned from a heavy DSLR to the X300 Pro for my [daily photography workflow](/photography/), I immediately integrated the camera kit into my [field photo shoot sessions](/gallery/).

## What is in the Photography Kit?

The official photography kit transforms the ergonomics of the phone. The setup includes:
1. **The Camera Grip Case:** A specialized case with a pronounced handgrip on the right side.
2. **Bluetooth Shutter Button:** A physical two-stage shutter button built into the grip. Half-press to focus, full-press to trigger the [200MP APO sensor](/camera/).
3. **Zoom Dial:** A physical dial surrounding the shutter button that allows you to zoom smoothly from 1x to 3.7x and 10x without touching the [1.5K LTPO display](/display/).
4. **67mm Filter Adapter:** A magnetic ring that snaps over the circular ZEISS camera module, allowing you to attach standard 67mm DSLR filters (such as CPL polarizers or variable ND filters).

## The Shooting Experience

Using the kit completely changes how you interact with the phone:
- **Ergonomics:** Holding a thin smartphone securely by the edges while trying to tap the screen can be awkward, especially when shooting from low angles. The textured grip makes the phone feel like a premium compact camera.
- **The Physical Shutter:** The two-stage shutter button is responsive. Being able to lock focus with a half-press before reframing a shot is a game-changer for street photography and captures documented in our [camera sample logs](/blog/camera-sample-log/).
- **Using Optical Filters:** The 67mm filter adapter is a standout tool for creators. Mounting a Variable ND filter allows you to record [4K 60fps video](/video/) with a natural 1/120s shutter speed in bright midday sun.

## Is the Photography Kit Worth Buying?

If you treat your phone primarily as a dedicated camera tool, **absolutely.**

The physical controls and the ability to use real camera filters elevate the entire experience. However, there are a few practical trade-offs:
- **Bulk:** The grip makes the phone significantly thicker. It is not designed to stay in your pocket all day; you will likely snap the grip on when you are actively going out on a photography shoot.
- **Price:** When bought separately from importers, the kit usually retails for around $100–$150 USD depending on your region, as tracked in our [Buying Guide & Importers Hub](/buying-guide/).

For casual daily use, a standard slim magnetic case from our [Best Cases & Accessories Guide](/blog/vivo-x300-pro-best-cases-accessories/) and [Accessories Hub](/accessories/) is sufficient. For street and landscape photographers, the Photography Kit is an outstanding investment.
