# How I Test: My Real-World Methodology

> Discover how I test the vivo X300 Pro in real-world scenarios, abandoning sterile labs for actual photography and daily usage.

If you are looking for synthetic benchmark scores, lab-controlled battery loops, or charts showing thermal throttling under an artificial load, you will not find them here.

As a digital marketing strategist and active photography contributor to platforms like [WordPress Photos](https://wordpress.org/photos/author/devshaddam/) and Pexels, I believe that sterile lab testing tells you almost nothing about what a phone is actually like to live with. Here is my exact methodology for testing the vivo X300 Pro.

## 1. The "Daily Driver" Rule
I do not test phones by keeping them on a desk next to my main device. To truly test a phone, my SIM card goes into it, and it becomes my sole device. I use it for banking, navigation, Slack, email, and social media. If there are bugs in [OriginOS 6](/software/) regarding notification delivery, I will experience them firsthand because I will miss actual messages.

## 2. Real-World Battery Logging
I track [battery life](/battery/) based on Screen-On Time (SOT) during actual days of my life.
- **Heavy Days:** I take the phone out for 3-4 hours of photography in bright sunlight (forcing maximum screen brightness), use GPS to navigate home, and edit RAW files over a 5G connection.
- **Light Days:** I track how the battery holds up when I am mostly stationary at my desk, connected to Wi-Fi.
- **Standby Testing:** I track exactly how much battery the phone loses overnight while disconnected from the charger, which is a true test of a chipset's efficiency.

## 3. Unedited Photography
The most important part of my testing is the camera.
- I shoot in the environments I actually work in: harsh midday sun, dim indoor lighting, and high-contrast street scenes.
- Unless specifically stated in my [Photography Workflow](/photography/) guide, all camera samples on this site are completely unedited. They are straight out of the camera (SOOC).
- I focus heavily on color science (testing the [ZEISS Natural profile](/camera/)) and shutter speed reliability for moving subjects, which is often ignored by reviewers who only photograph static objects.

## 4. Purchasing My Own Hardware
To remain completely objective, I buy my own hardware. I do not rely on review units seeded by manufacturers, which means I am not bound by any embargos or PR guidelines. My opinions on the [vivo X300 Pro](/vivo-x300-pro-review/) are entirely my own, shaped by my investment in the device as a tool for my craft.
